The opening balance of the society on September 1, 2020 was €6,838.11, and the closing balance now is €4,083.72. Overall, the Irish Meteorological Society accrued losses to the amount of €2,754.39 during the reporting period. Some pre-Covid expenditure was included, and there were one off costs related to the website and charity status. The expected annual running costs are circa €1,500 plus public liability insurance when social activities resume. Even with the proposed increase in membership fee some fundraising would be needed. Charity status should improve the financial situation through reduced bank charges and wider fundraising.
